This piece was first conceived early in 2005 by artist and designer Werner Du Toit working closely with fellow ceramic designer and wife Philippa du Toit. The Design stemmed from the constant amount of waste material their studio produced, being the only African conceived chandelier at the time, the designer tried to bridge the gap between Africa. This was also a way to create jobs in the community, 20 jobs were created overnight and has since supported over 100 families.
The chandelier was exhibited that same year with raving reviews of excellence. It was honoured and awarded as one of the top 50 worldwide designs that shaped the millennium. This chandelier is the father of all clay bead and bead chandeliers. it was exhibited at MoMA New York, customers like Ralph Lauren, Sir Richard Branson, and Val Kilmer also known as Batman!!
